As part of celebrating Aphasia Awareness Month we wanted to share with you what members have been doing at our new zoom Aphasia group.   Our aphasia group this year has been supported with funding from Tesco Groundwork – a huge thank you to the them for supporting this.

Last week Members of the group brought pictures that they drew to illustrate how it feels to have aphasia.  These pictures are a great way to start to understand how someone with aphasia may feel.

Since Lockdown began we have had to look at different ways of supporting Stroke affected people in our region and with the support of Emma Richards a Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist from Sirona Care & Health, we set up a weekly Zoom Aphasia group to support people with Aphasia.

The group has proved very popular very quickly.

It’s wonderful to make new partnerships and start new ventures during this time.   Thanks to all who come and to Emma Richards, the staff and volunteers that have made this happen.
