The Marmalade Trust is an award-winning national charity, based here in Bristol, dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and empowering people to make connections.

Since 2013, they have directly helped thousands of people and have reached millions more. Their mission is simple: to create a society where we recognise that loneliness exists and support each other to make new connections.

Their “Marmalade Connections” project is now able to take referrals year-round and are planning the next group of matched volunteers and project members to start in January.

So this is a friendly Autumnal reminder about the project, as they would love to receive referrals for project members or applications for volunteers!

What IS Marmalade Connections?

It is a project designed to complement the work already being done by other bodies to support those experiencing loneliness and improve wellbeing, and does so by helping people to build meaningful local connections.

Marmalade Connections offers up to 15 weeks of 1-to-1 telephone support, delivered by trained volunteers. This empowering model helps individuals explore their interests, discover local opportunities, and build confidence to take part in community life.

Tiny changes to big steps, all make a difference.

Marmalade Connections is for adults who:
✅ experience significant loneliness
✅ want to make a change but may be unsure where to start
✅ may have had some social prescribing experience
✅ would benefit from a bit more support to make positive changes
✅ are not experiencing current mental health crisis or substance misuse
✅ recognise that this is a time-bound support project

They receive referrals from GPs, social prescribers, churches, housing support teams, foodbanks, community groups and more, and would welcome the chance to support more adults in our area.

It’s Christmas…

Finally, they still have spaces on their Christmas Cheer project for those experiencing significant loneliness and not seeing anyone on Christmas Day. Check out the link below:
