For the last couple of years Bristol After Stroke have joined together with the Bristol Health Partners Stroke Health Integration Team (HIT) hosting stands at various health events across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
These health events use the opportunity to build networks and relationships with communities that find usual methods of interaction with health professionals and health organisations difficult.
Some examples of such health events have been: East European communities, Black and Afro Caribbean communities that have Sickle Cell within their families, Somali and East African communities, and white low-income families.
We are now looking for a small number of volunteers to assist in attending such events.
If you are confident at talking with members of the general public about stroke, reasonably articulate and can show empathy to others who might be struggling with their health experiences, then we would really like to hear from you!
It will be helpful if you can travel to local venues and have the stamina to engage with people of all ages, for a couple of hours - occasionally at weekends.
The events are very rewarding, usually very well organised and can make a big difference to the lives of those attending.
