Darren Jones MP, Labour, Chief Secretary to the Treasury and MP for Bristol North West has been seeing and hearing about first-hand the amazing physical, mental and social benefits of Walking Football.

He was the guest at Horfield Leisure Centre on Friday 17 July and, as well as hearing passionate testimony from group members about the difference Walking Football had made to their lives, he joined in the session.

Afterwards he said: "It was great to join Bristol After Stroke for a kickabout with a walking football team to see how this low-impact version of the sport opens up the game to stroke survivors.

"We know exercise is important for all. Just this week, the local NHS Integrated Care Board and councils in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire launched the 'Every Move Matters' campaign to highlight how moving just a little bit each day can help people build a stronger, healthier future.

“This aligns perfectly with this government's plan for the NHS to shift from treatment to prevention."
