Stroke Care Coordinator Tanya Chowdhury is already starting to put in the miles ahead of next year’s London Marathon. Here is the moving story behind her fundraising efforts.
When my mother-in-law had her stroke, unfortunately the support that is on offer from Bristol After Stroke was not around.
We watched her struggle and didn't know where to turn for help.
Being the strong, independent and feisty woman that she was, she was able to make a good recovery. However, if she had been able to access even some of the fantastic services provided at Bristol After Stroke, she may not have felt quite so alone in her struggles.
Having worked at Bristol After Stroke for the past four years, I have the privilege of seeing first-hand what a difference the right support, at the right time can make.
I feel honoured to work with such a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, sharing in the journeys of stroke affected people across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. I am continually shocked and inspired by the bravery and determination I see in our clients on a day-to-day basis.
I am running the London Marathon in memory of Mary, my wonderful mother-in-law (known to my children as Granny!) and for all the amazing clients, volunteers and staff at Bristol After Stroke.
Please help me to raise as much money as possible so that this brilliant charity can continue to provide these desperately needed services.
