How did you become a volunteer with Bristol After Stroke?
"About six or seven years ago, I had recently retired and felt like I needed something to do. I had friends who were volunteering at the group… they invited me to go along and I’m still here!"
What does it add to your life?
“It’s a lovely group… such nice people and full of laughter. I really enjoy it… it’s the focus of my week."
Would you recommend volunteering to others?
Absolutely! It’s a very rewarding thing, helping people – and it does get you out and involved with others.
We’re recruiting!
Adds Lucy Stockall, our Stroke Volunteer Co-ordinator, “If you have time to come along for a few hours on Thursday afternoons, we’d love to hear from you.
“Through volunteering, you can give back to the stroke community and support people along their stroke journey in a friendly and positive environment.
“Most of all, it’s a hugely rewarding and enjoyable experience!”
