Socks, shirts, scarves… even PJs… if you’ve got something stripey in your wardrobe, it’s time to wear it with pride to show YOUR support for stroke-affected people!
“Stripes for Stroke” is one of our biggest raising events of the year, and timed to co-incide with World Stroke Day: this year that falls on Wednesday 29 October, but when you hold a fund-raising event is up to you.
We’re asking local schools, hospitals, clubs and companies to join in the fun…the only “rules” are for those taking part to wear something stripey that day – and either get sponsored or make a small contribution.
Stripes for Stroke is also an important opportunity to spread the word about how to reduce one’s chances of having a stroke… as well as raise awareness of the services we offer to 1,400 stroke-affected people locally every year.
Last year, events took place at local schools, colleges and community hospitals… and we’d love to see an even wider spread of locations taking part this time around.
So, if you’d like to get stripey in a (very!) good cause this October, why not encourage your friends, fellow scholars or work colleagues to get involved? After all, most families have been affected by stroke – the leading cause of long-term disability.
We can supply collection tins, posters and other support materials.
Just contact our office to let us know your plans and how we can help you make it a day to remember!
